Intro Blog
Hey there, my name is Isabel Vera Martinez. I am currently a sophomore at Fort Lauderdale high school and I am 15. My favorite thing to do is Softball. I actually play softball for Fort Lauderdale and I also play for my travel team called the Gold Coast Hurricanes. I also enjoy science very much and I am thinking about pursuing a career in the medical field, however, I'm not necessarily sure what I specifically want to do yet or if I'm going to even end up pursuing something in the medical field. As a matter a fact, I actually have always been secretly interested in performing arts. For some reason deep down inside of me I was always some how drawn to idea of acting however, I never really put myself out there. At first I didn't even have AICE Media Studies, I never really even considered taking the class. Although some of my friends told me about it I just never really put my mind to it. When I wanted to change some of my classes around in the beginning of the year my counselor offered me to join Media Studies and explained what it was. So I said, sure why not, but as I kept thinking about it especially while writing this blog, I actually thought how this would help me. I thought that this class would probably help me with opening up my mind more and help me become more creative. In addition, I believe that this class may also help me dig a little deeper about the art of film and acting and see if I might actually enjoy it. Besides me secretly admiring acting and what not, I actually really enjoy reading, drawing and anything artistic even though I don't necessarily embody someone that would. I am actually a really strong-minded person and I always work hard for what I want. I always give 110% in everything that I do and I keep my priorities such as school, softball, and my family always on my mind. Some people find me intimidating in which I don't mind but I am also actually a really friendly person. I love spending time with my friends and family and I also appreciate the small things in life. Even though yes, I love materialistic things such as nice shoes or nice clothes but, I also love the tiniest things around us that life has to offer. I love helping my Tia Chili make Tamales, Chuchitos, and tacitos for celebrations on my Guatamalan side, and I love it when my Puerto Rican side has family gatherings so we can enjoy my abuelita's arroz con Gandules and Flan. Just being around my family brings me true happiness like no other and I would never trade it for anything else in the world.
