Music Video CCR Questions

  1. How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues? For my music video my costume was a simple, black dress with black heels. For my makeup I wore false lashes and lip gloss. For props I used my backpack which was used in the beginning of the video and a hair straightener that I used to style my hair. For my location, I decided to film at my friend's house. I mainly filmed in her bathroom and outside in her backyard.   In my music video it is about a normal girl who wants to be someone else in a way. When no one is around she immediately turns into this more glamorous and feminine person. This is basically her alter ego. I used the lyrics of the song to create another meaning behind the artists' words. Instead of using the lyrics "In your eyes, I see there's something burning inside you" in a more emotional and romantic way as he does, I chose to create a story, and show how this girl wants to be more than her...

Music Video Blog

For my Music Video, I wanted to change the meaning of the song through my actual film. In the lyrics of the song he says "In your eyes, I see there's something burning inside you". The meaning behind these lyrics implies that he can see that his partner has feelings for him even though she playacts on the surface.  In the original music video for the song its about how this girl is constantly running away from The Weeknd because he plays as a murderer. This implies that she is trying to run away from him and her feelings for him. But as soon as he gets to her she kills him instead, which implies how as soon as he wants to commit to her, she doesn't hesitate to reject him.  For my video I wanted to tell this story about this normal girl who basically has this alter ego. When nobody is around she likes to dress up and become this glamorous and elegant person. In my film, she immediately goes to the mirror to look at her imperfections. Soon after, she starts ...

Filming and Editing Blog for my Music Video

Throughout both processes of filming and editing I went through a few ups and downs. For filming I decided that I wanted to shoot my video at my friend's house because it is much bigger than mine inside and outside and so that she can help me. When filming we got distracted a few times whether it was just from talking or not knowing which shots we should start doing. Eventually we made up our minds on what we should do but took many shots of each part just in case I preferred one over another. I took many outdoor and indoor shots that had different lightings with multiple segments of the video. I really wanted to match the song with the video and what I was doing. For example, in the beginning of the song I would basically get ready and dress up. You will also see short cuts of me when I'm fully dressed up and as my normal self. This gives basically shows my character's two personalities. Towards the end of the song where the music is more upbeat, I have more shots of me a...

Editing Blog for My Music Video

Throughout my editing process I found it fairly easy and fast to put my film together. To edit and create my film I used Clipchamp. I have used Clipchamp for previous projects, so for this one it took me a shorter amount of time to finish editing despite the fact that it is a longer video. To start off, I went into my camera roll and selected all the shots that my friend recorded of me. I then uploaded each shot to my Google Drive and organized them in order. After that I began uploading every shot from my Google Drive to Clipchamp. After everything was added to Clipchamp, I started to add my favorite shots that I thought would fit best for my video in a specific order. I decided that I wanted to add the audio in so I could edit the shots according to the duration and lyrics of the song.  I followed the same process for the audio as I did for my commercial project. I began screen recording the song and edited the appearance to make it look black. I uploaded the...
