AICE Media Studies

This is my Creative Critical Reflection video for the final task. Here I answer all four questions in regards to the final task while doing my nightly skin and hair routine. Because I wanted to really involve my routines in the video, I also made sure to include what I was applying to my skin and hair. I had one of my partners ask me the questions so that the video can seem a little bit more like an interview. Hope you enjoy the video.

Together my partners and I came up with different ideas and composed them to make our film what we call it, The Missing.We honestly enjoyed making this film and it really gave us a deeper understanding of filming. After this project we realized that there is so much that goes into film production than perceived. Even though we were very productive it took a lot of time and focus to try to make the film as best as we can, especially because we are students. We hope that this film came out well and that you enjoy it.

 Today Esther and I finally met up and started to finish everything. I actually ended up staying at home because I had a softball game yesterday and I needed to rest. I had ended up doing school online but Esther was unable to come early in the day. Her mom had work and had to drop her father off at work. So instead of coming in the morning she came a little bit after 3 p.m. For some reason my computer was having trouble with the editing software and I had to fix it. Esther tried to resend me the parts that we had finished, but it still wasn't working. Throughout our time being together everything was loading very slowly. It took majority of our time to have everything downloaded and put together. Once again the editing software was giving us issues and the music didn't even load when she was with me.     Ever since we met up last week we haven't really done too much. I have another softball game tonight and once we finish I will be getting home late. We still really want to meet up one last time so we can definitely finalize things. We are trying to plan to see each other this  Thursday. Because I physically attend school, I am going to try to stay home instead. That way all of us can meet up on Thursday because Esther and I have study hall, so we are guaranteed a free hour and a half. So we were planning for her to come early in the morning and then we just do school online throughout the day. Then when it is time for study hall we are going to try to complete editing and add the final touches to the final task. We were really happy that we had finished all of our scenes on our first meet up. We actually didn't plan on doing so but then we just decided to do it.       Today we were able to meet up and start to wrap things up. I had practice today and we weren't sure if I was able to show up at all. We ended practice a little bit early so I was able to meet up with my partners around 4 o'clock. We had originally planned to meet at 3 o'clock, but we obviously had to scratch that. When we all started it took us a few minutes to get ready and prepare. We had reviewed each scene to see how much time they had already taken up. We had to re-do about 3 scenes. We only re-shot 2 though because we came to the conclusion that we didn't really need it. When we had put all the clips together the film was already about 1 minute and 45 seconds. We just continued to edit and cut a few things. We wanted to make everything flow together so we had scrapped some things. We also changed up a few of the lines from the script.       This past week ended up being very busy for my partners and I. Again I am constantly busy with softball and once again have two games this week as well. When we don't have games we have the rest of the week to practice. Last week we had Friday off because it was a religious holiday (good Friday). Each of us had been busy because of the holiday and had to spend time with our family. Sunday was also Easter and which we were all busy with our family again and we had to celebrate. In addition, I was unable to basically do anything because my Family and I had to go to Miami to take care of my grandmother. We would stay there hours at a time and had to consistently visit her. This made us all unable to really do any filming or editing together. We also didn't end up communicating well because of our other plans. I have a busy week again due to softball and I have practice with my travel team on Saturday as well. We are starting to lose time and we real...

    This week my group and I have been unable to film or edit together. This week I have 3 softball games in total. Today I will have my third one which means that we will not be able to do anything today as well. However, tomorrow we don't have school because of the holiday. Because of this we might do something tomorrow or the weekend. We haven't been able to really plan anything but one of my other partners and I have discussed about meeting up again. I may or may not have practice on Saturday with my travel team, but we might be able to meet up  afterwards. Sunday however, is most likely our best bet for all of us to see each other and be productive. Right now all we really have to do is continue to edit. We already started a little bit, but we still need to see if we need to add more things. This is why all of us need to meet up again at least one more time.  After my team and I had taken that one day to start filming, we realized we did majority of the film. We are pretty sure we may need to add a little more and fix a few things but we did start editing. This past week, we had spring break and literally took a break. The past few weeks have been very busy for us between school, work, and sports so we really needed to take time to relax. We had wanted to film again last Monday but one of our partners did not know the plans and was not able to show up. We honestly weren't really prepared ot film again that day regardless. So instead we decided to chill and start editing. We didn't do much but we put all the scenes together and decided which ones to scrap. This upcoming week we are going to plan to meet up again. We are most likely going to film a little more and then continue to edit. We still have to find some suspenseful music and find some background noises.       Today we finally started filming. We had an early release day so we were able to start pretty early. We had planned to started filming around 2:00 but our partner had to start later so he could watch his sibling until his mother came home. Everyone then arrived to my house and we started to film around 3:45. It was pretty bright outside so we had good lighting for the outdoor shots. It was also slightly windy today so we had to stop a couple of times but we had managed. We started with the outdoor films first so that we could get them out of the way first just in case of anything. We honestly got distracted a few times especially me  becauseI kept laughing. At some points we continued to laugh and overall had a lot of fun. However we were actually very productive.     Once again my group and I were not able to film. This weekend I had to attend my cousin's wedding. The wedding was located in  Kissimmee, Florida, which is about 3-4 hours away from where I live. I was busy packing up the day before and then we had to wake up pretty early in the morning. Today I also had a softball game making us unable to film again. One of our main concerns when discussing the project over was the daylight. Usually the sun would set by a pretty early time meaning that we would have filmed between a certain time span. However, daylight savings times changed that and now we are able to for a longer period. Thursday we for sure are going to film. The Thursday coming up will be an early release day so we will be able to get a lot done. We are going to film on Thursday because it is efficient for all of us and we will hopefully be very productive between those few hours.       This week my group and I did not film for our project. As I have previously said we are all very busy. I have been in school everyday and then I have softball right after. For the past 3 days I had a game each day and would get home very late. Today and tomorrow I also have practice and will be getting home by nightfall. One of my partners has been working everyday as well and was unable to film this week. Lately I have been also catching up on a lot of homework and have been studying for tests. Int is very difficult for me to concentrate on the project while having to go to sports right after school everyday. This  weekend I also have to attend to my cousin's wedding. This will be located in Kissimmee, Florida so it would be about 3-4 hours from where I live. We have decided that we will start filming in the beginning of next week.       My group and I still have not started filming for our final task. We were originally trying to film yesterday (Sunday), but all of us ended up being very busy with school. One of my partners also had to go on a trip because it was her mother's birthday over the weekend. Tonight I actually have a softball game which means I will be home late. After my game we are hoping we can all make some type of time to plan a little more for the final task. The next two days I also have games in which meaning that we are not able to film anything throughout the week. However, we are hoping we are able to start filming by next week. Overall, all three of us have a lot of assignments and sports or work to attend to. We are trying to schedule around these things so we are also able to get ahead.       So far my group and I have not yet started our project. We have already created the script and basically came up with the overall plot of the film. We have also figured out our location of our film and how we will run things to ensure a well-put together film and stay safe overall. This week we have not been able to start filming because we have all been very busy. Both of my partners have been staying at home to do E-learning because of Covid-19. However I have been going to school for the past two months. In addition, I play travel and school softball. I have practice every weekday for school softball and I have practice every other Saturday for my travel team.  Occasionally I have softball games as well, making my schedule very tight between school and sports. We will be filming the introductory outdoor scenes from scene 3 to scene 5. 3/14/21-3/18-21: Here we will be filming majority of the scenes especially the main ones that contribute to the plot. This will be scenes 2 and 6-10. 3/20/21: We will begin to film the last few scenes and start to put all of them together. These will be scenes 11-15 3/21/21-3/25/21: This is when we will look over all of our scenes and reshoot any that could be better. We are going to put it with all bold letters such as "The Missing". We are also going to put all names of the people that are in the film in red for example " Directed by Esther ".       In the first page it starts out with a black screen which in the film will include asynchronous sound of a bell ringing. The  following scenes will then introduce the main characters and setting of the film which will also include dialogue. The next page illustrates when the kids arrive home and notice that their mom is missing. Here they see that their house has been trashed and hear a scream signalizing that their mother may be in danger. The next few illustrations basically show how the kids continue to search for their mother and confirm that she is no where to be found.

The sequence then starts to name the people who helped cast the film, as well as the director. It showed who was in charge of music, costuming, editing, photography, then the producers. Throughout the sequence, there was mysterious music, which is usually seen in thrillers. pictures on the screen changed as the titles changed. So there was a new title for every new picture. The setting seemed to be in a town that didn't have many people in it. We could probably say that this town is small or not very popular. There is a voice of a man talking about him and his wife. When he mentions her hair there was a scene of a woman with blonde hair laying down. From what the man is saying, we can tell that they don't have a normal relationship. This would definitely get the viewer's attention...

These images and the city clips may indicate where the entire film will take place. There could also be an important building that plays into the plot. Sometimes in thrillers, you find out that one of the previous settings had an important aspect to put the plot together. The opening could also be foreshadowing of what places will be important later on. The music used in the opening sounds very suspenseful. There were not many pictures aside from the building. At the very beginning, there were a series of comic pages which tells us that the movie may be an adaption to the comics.
